CAD Technician

Skills, Abilities, Requirements, and Preferences
Applicants should have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
As a CAD technician on projects you will, in general, be required to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, client focus/customer service, and ownership/responsibility; be resourceful and flexible, effective at handling multiple tasks; have good computer skills; have good presentation, written, and verbal skills; and be able to be delegated to while working in a collaborative format with multiple team members. Specifically you will be required to:
- Provide value to our clients by evaluating options based the client’s needs and desires.
- Effectively communicate with project teams, construction contractors, and vendors in meetings, via email and phone as necessary.
- Work on project teams with other staff to collaborate the design and detail the building systems that are needed, while assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.
- Effectively utilize computer design and drafting software, and 3-D Modeling/BIM software to produce construction drawings, and construction coordination modeling.
- Support all building design disciplines (architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering)
- Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.
The Physical and Ergonomic Requirements of this position are as follows:
- Lifting/carrying: Carrying light loads related to filed measurement equipment, equipment cases weighing 15 lbs. or less.
- Dexterity: Ability to type using a keyboard with relative efficiency, ability to make handwritten notes and sketches indoors and outdoors at industrial plant and construction sites at any time of the year.
- Walking/Climbing: Ability to ascend multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to discern single line and 3 dimensional computer images representing objects being designed or drafted.
- Hearing: Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
- Physical exertion: Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year. Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
- Breathing: Ability to work while wearing a respirator of self contained breathing apparatus.
